Garden Concerts – A Covid-19 Solution
| Enjoying Garden Concerts and New Hobbies at 85 |
We are excited to hear that Christy (85 years old) has taken up the piano accordian and has learned two tunes already. Wow! Christy was inspired by professional accordionist, Gerry Kelly, who played for him in is garden as part of the Making Connections garden concerts initiative.
Christy’s wife is in a nursing home and has found the experience of lockdown to be extremely isolating. Thanks to Making Connections and the generosity of our volunteers he enjoyed a birthday celebration for his 85th birthday this summer.
His neighbours gathered at a distance in the garden and accompanied by Gerry on the accordian they sang Happy Birthday. They enjoyed some tunes and were even joined by a five year old who put her best foot forward with a dance.
